TO ALL BRECHIN CASTLE EQUESTRIAN
CUSTOMERS & CLIENTS
Dear Customer
I write to advise you that the Estate will shortly be restructuring the business of Brechin Castle Equestrian for the reasons explained below. The most significant change is that the Riding School will cease operations early next month. In detail the changes will be as follows:-
With effect from Sunday, 4th April 2010 the riding school will close. Brechin Castle Equestrian will also cease to operate as a Pony Club Centre. Our stock of riding ponies will be mostly offered for sale. The arena will however continue to be available for hire for lessons.
Brechin Castle Equestrian will continue to operate as a livery yard under the direct management of Dalhousie Estates.
The Annual One Day Event in May will continue to be organised by the Estate. The summer programme of mid week evening competitions and Jumpcross, summer and autumn shows fixtures will no longer be run by the Estate. However we would like this programme to continue if possible and I would welcome an approach from any of you who have been involved previously who might be interested in continuing this part of the business on a commission basis.
The present facilities of Brechin Castle Equestrian including yard arena, showfield jumping and dressage arenas and cross country courses and temporary stabling will be available for hire in the usual way.
At her own decision Alison Duff has decided to leave the business at the end of April to concentrate on her family commitments. Her role as Yard Manager will be taken over by Fiona Hirst, who is known to many of you as one of our freelance instructors and she will manage the livery business and facility bookings with part time assistance.
It is with much regret that Dalhousie Estates has taken the decision to make these changes which is mainly for business reasons. We understand that the Riding School and Pony Club in particular have been much appreciated locally and we are very grateful for the support received over the last nine years. However, as noted above, we will continue to operate on a restricted basis.
I would like to express my gratitude to Alison who has worked tirelessly to build up the business; also the commitment of her full and part time staff, visiting instructors and her volunteer helpers has been remarkable. In particular I would also like to thank Shelagh Steven who, in her capacity as consultant, has made a contribution to the development and high standards of Brechin Castle Equestrian.
The intention of this letter is to give as much notice as possible of the changes. Many of the details have yet to be finalised and will be communicated in due course. There will be an Open Meeting at the yard on the evening of Wednesday, 17th March 2010 commencing at 6.30 p.m. I do hope as many of you will come as possible and I will be pleased to take any questions at that time.
